Attending the Bukit Panjang Primary School Prize Giving Day on 19 Nov 2010
Bukit Panjang Primary School will always be special for me. Both my parents were teachers in the school during the 1950s. In fact, that’s where they met and fell in love. So in a sense, I owe my existence to this school.
Even today, many people still come up to tell me that my parents taught them so many years ago.
12 suspects arrested so far in connection with the slashings at Bukit Panjang
Police telephoned me earlier this evening to inform me that they have arrested 12 young men so far.
The Criminal Law (Temporary Provisions) Act provides for detention without trial in order to facilitate thorough investigations into cases like this. I am glad we still have these laws and an effective Police Force capable of quick and decisive action to break the backs of gangs like this.
Don’t hesitate to call the Poice if you notice any suspicious people loitering in our neighbourhood.
In Penang with Cashew Grassroots Leaders
We decided to hold our annual Workplan Seminar in Penang this year. It will be a good opportunity to review and refocus our plans, projects and activities.
Many of us haven’t been back to Penang for many years. Still a rustic, charming and green island. Hawker food is great!
Cashew Community Town Club opens on 8/9/10
Soft launch of our brand new sports complex and community facilities tomorrow for residents living in the Cashew, Zhenghua and Bukit Timah divisions.
The location and special design originated from my first block visit in the area in 2006, when grassroots leaders suggested that having sports facilities built into the slope adjacent to Pang Sua pond (opposite Bukit Panjang plaza) would be unique and convenient for residents in all 3 divisions.
